On this space you can read about my music project called Gerstein Born in fall 1984 as a personal-musical project, Gerstein has been moving his sound between: solo melancholic piano ballads, experimental harsh sounds, synth-guitar powerful extravaganza to the actual electronic semi melodic tracks. In all these years twelve tapes have been released through a personal label called Infektion Prod or with many others such as: Misty Circles (I), BrokenFlag (UK), Minus Habens (I), Bekko Bunsen (I), HAX (I), etc. In 1993, the first full length vinyl album titled "Sucker" has been released joining the efforts with Misty Circles and changing the name from Infektion Prod to Purity. Here the piano is still the principal instrument but also bass guitar, drum machine and guitars have been used. The 1994 is the year of the rising sun and a new energy move the project, the releasing of the new split mini-cd "Harakiri for seven strings" is the naked reality. Here Gerstein is proud to bring you: "The first step into my deep throat"and the assault of "In the shadow of the sun". At the end of that year a new member joined Gerstein: Johnny Mastrocinque (sampler machine). The music became darker and tense... The new tracks were a sort of dark soundtrack. Piano, synths, guitar, samples, everything was used each time in a different way to create sick songs with a melodic taste. Unfortunately at the end of 1999, after the recordings of "Burn", Johnny left because his involvement with different hip hop bands. It has been a wonderful time but I had to look ahead. After the retrospective "Here comes sickness" released by AFE in 2003 (where you can find unreleased and rare tapes tracks not reissued) I had to wait until 2005 to have something ready. "Wring the wrist" is a split CD with Cold Cluster and contains eight tracks composed during the 2001÷2005 period. These tracks sounds more electronic compared to the old ones and someway are the beginning of a new style of my music. For the future I think that every influence I had in the past in fact I just finished mixing 10 new tracks for a collaboration project with Gregorio Bardini. Ex Thelema flute and keyboard player, Gregorio since he left the band in the late '80s started to collaborate with different people into the experimental scene such as T.A.C., Kino Glaz, etc, releasing also different albums with his own name. Recently he released a new album for The Eastern Front label (see my review into the pages of www.chaindlk.com). Because of that review we got in contact again after about 20 years and talking about our visions and our passions we decided to collaborate. The work won't be a split, I recorded 10 tracks in balance from electronic experimetal to martial electro. My inspiration was the Keith Emerson soundtrack to Dario Argento's "Inferno". I'm curious to see what Gregorio will add to my tense nightmarish sounds. |
